iTunes top 10 BPM analysis: Running Playlist 2011-24-05

Another week on running playlist and Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” is finally out! We also survived the end of the world (this time at least), so it’s good news all around. Except for the annoying “Judas”, it’s a pretty good album and I’m sure we’ll be hearing it ad-nauseum on every radio station in the country.

This week’s iTunes top 10 list has a couple of new Hip-Hop songs. I’m On One [Explicit] which I don’t like that much and is not good for a running playlist due to low BPM, and Super Bass [Explicit] which is pretty good, and is over 120 BPM, so it will work on a running playlist.

iTunes top 10 BPM analysis: Running Playlist

This week is a pretty good week for running playlists on the iTunes top 10.
We have 3 new songs, HairParty Rock AnthemDirty Dancer and all of them are over 120 BPM.

Lady Gaga’s new song is especially interesting, since she sounds a little bit like Bonnie Tyler in that, which is a good thing…

As usual, I’ve bolded the songs that would work well in a running playlist.

Dance Running Playlist + Sweet Surprise

I felt that we need to lighten things up a bit after last week’s metal running playlist, so continuing the theme of genre based running playlists I started last week, today’s running playlist is all dance.

Dance is fun music, all themed around parties and dancing. This list is 54 minutes long and averages at 131 BPM, it will give you a fun quick run.

And the surprise? Just like last week, the entire list of music is free on amazon!

Running Playlist: iTunes top 10 BPM analysis: 05-10-2011

This week’s iTunes top 10 list is pretty good for a running playlist. Lady Antebellum is still in the top 10, which makes me happy, and we also have a new Lady GaGa song entering at number 1 that is actually pretty good.

We still have the really annoying song Judas in the top 10, but I’m hoping it will go away soon…
As usual, I’ve bolded the songs that would work well in a running playlist.

This Weekend Only!!! The Running Playlist App is FREE!!!

running playlist iphone app

In the spirit of sharing free stuff and to show my thanks to all the loyal readers of this site who keep coming back for running playlists every week, I decided to share the running playlist iphone app with the world for free for a limited time.

So for this weekend only (until Monday morning), the running playlist iphone appis absolutely free on iTunes.

I highly recommend you get it now and also tell as many people as you can about it as soon as possible, because on Monday, the price goes back up again.

I also can’t say much about it due to confidentiality and such, but there are some really cool features coming to the app very soon and if you get it now (did I mention it’s free? :) ) you’ll be eligible for those features when the update comes out (the timing really depends on Apple’s process, so I hope it’ll be soon….).

Anyway, I’ll keep this one short and sweet – the running playlist iphone app for free for this weekend only, get it now and tell as many people as possible to get it for free before the price goes back up again.

Rock and Metal Running Playlist + Sweet Surprise

I haven’t done a genre themed playlist for a while and I was having a few bad days at work, so I thought I could use some angry and powerful music to get me going.

To me, running is usually a very relaxing and calm activity, but sometimes, you just need that push that you can’t get anywhere else than metal. I can honestly say that having angry men with long hair screaming at you through your earbuds definitely makes you go faster….

This playlist is 43 minutes long and has an average BPM of 152, so it will get you going fast. I also included some more “classic” rock to keep things from getting too out of hand and watch out for “The Formation of Damnation”, I clocked it at over 200 BPM!!!

What’s the sweet surprise I talked about? Well, I’m not affiliated or trying to promote any music store on this site, but if you get these songs on Amazon, they are all free!

Running Playlist: iTunes top 10 BPM analysis: 05-04-2011

I was hoping to avoid an iTunes top 10 list with Glee on it, since last night’s episode wasn’t really great, but I guess I can’t…
Fleetwood Mac was an interesting choice, but I don’t think the Glee style (“teenagers” singing about their “feelings”) works with this music, it just wasn’t believable.

Anyway, the good news is that Lady Antebellum has another song in the top 10. I really like that band so the more success they have the better.
