This week’s running playlist was harder to put together. The 130 BPM range is a very popular range and there are a ton of great songs in that range that could be great in a running playlist. I had a tough time deciding which ones should make the list, but eventually I had to make some hard choices and ended up with this list. This running playlist has a very diverse range of genres, ranging from country to hip hop and from rock to latino pop, so I’m sure there’s something for everyone here. Running Playlist: iTunes top 10 BPM analysis: 02-23-2011
There are a lot of new songs on the iTunes top 10 list this week, and fortunately for us, a lot of them are great for a running playlist. I’m still a bit surprised that the whole ‘Born This Way is a knock off of Madonna’s “Express Yourself” scandal’ went away so quietly. It’s pretty obvious but I guess enough time passed that kids don’t even know who Madonna is and could think it’s a Gaga original. Oh well, I’ve go bigger things to worry about… Glee is also starting to get annoying, it seems like they are moving more and more towards a “buy this on iTunes” show rather than a show featuring good music. One last thing, I just noticed that the new Justin Bieber song, Never Say Never, is featuring Jaden Smith, is that the same Jaden, Will Smith’s kid? Isn’t it great to have a rich and famous dad/parents? hopefully with all this practice, some talent will come as well… I’ve bolded the songs that would make good additions to a running playlist. get the list at running playlist

Special Valentine's Day Running Playlist: Song With The World "Love"
It’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow, and the air is filled with chocolate, roses, greeting cards and oh, yes, also love. That’s why I decided to put together this special running playlist for Valentine’s Day. These songs are not necessarily love songs, but they do include the word “Love” in their titles and are very good to run with. So if you have a special someone or if you are still looking, download these songs and go for a nice run, that would be the romantic thing to do, right?

5k Running Playlist of the week: constant BPM of 140
This week, I thought I’d try something different on running playlist. I usually mix up my running playlist, so it has a lot of diversity and it allows me to explore different paces while I run. But I got to thinking, what would my running playlist look like if I try to keep the same exact pace for an entire run? The results are below. This 5k running playlist is set at a more or less constant BPM in the 140 range (I did make it vary slightly so that I get some diversity in my run). I’m going to experiment with faster and slower BPM running playlists and post my findings over the next few weeks. This running playlist is 39 minutes long, and if you want to use it as a 5k running playlist, you’ll need to keep a pace of 12:39 min/mile. get the 5k running playlist at running playlist

Running Playlist: iTunes top 10 BPM analysis: 02-09-2011: Glee Glee and more Glee
I usually post this running playlist analysis on Tuesdays but yesterday, when I checked the iTunes top 10, I saw 3 Glee songs on the list. “3 Glee songs?!” I thought to myself, “that’s too much… I’ll wait until tomorrow and post this once the Glee craze dies down”. Of course, I forgot that Tuesday is Glee day on TV and coupled with the post Superbowl Glee, It created a Glee frenzy with nearly all spots on the iTunes top 10 taken by Glee songs. Not only that, I think this is the first time in history when not only are the cover version of a song (Firework (Glee Cast Version) Wow! anyway, I do like the Glee machine, and they are slowly becoming the main source of music for many people. It would be very interesting to see how the new american Idol does with Glee music the day before. Anyway, back to running and music… As usual, I’ve bolded the songs that are good for a running playlist. to get the glee running playlist visit running playlist) and the original song (Firework
) in the top 10 but the cover version also ranks higher than the original song!

Powerful and Fast 10k Running Playlist
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been going easy on you, and posting slow running playlists, but this is going to change. This week’s running playlist is a tough one. Starting at 142 BPM (so make sure you warm up before the run) and going up to 176 BPM, you’re going to have to run hard to keep up. I thought of doing this list as a 5k list, since the average BPM of 153 isn’t easy to follow for a long run, but I know you’re tough and can take a high BPM on a 10k as well. From a pace perspective, this running playlist isn’t too bad. It’s 1:18 hours long, which means that if you want to use it for a 10k, you’ll have to keep a pace of 12:35 min/mile, not too bad indeed. get this 10k running playlist at running playlist

Running Playlist: iTunes top 10 BPM analysis: 02-02-2011
It’s groundhog day today, and about time too. I’m not sure how the groundhog thing works, but I was told that that small rodent can tell if winter is over. According to the news, he said it is, which is about time since there have just been too many snowstorms, ice storms and other types of winter nonsense keeping me from running outside. As for the new iTunes top 10 list, not much news for those of us looking for new songs for our running playlist. There were three new songs on the list today, XX, XXX, XXXX, but they are all relatively low on the BPM side so not really good for a running playlist. As usual, I’ve bolded the songs that are good for a running playlist. Get the list at running playlist
