Welcome back to a new week and a new running playlist analysis of the iTunes top 10. I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving break and had good runs. I’m still adjusting to living in the northeast and the snow on Thanksgiving Day didn’t help, but back to the music… My theory on Glee being in the top 10 every week isn’t really panning out like I thought it would. Honestly, I can’t really remember any great songs from last week’s episode, so maybe it’s a quality thing. This week, we’re back to our usual top 10 list, with Bottoms Up back in the top 10 list and no Glee related music. Katy Perry is still number 1 and if she keeps playing as much as she is now on the radio, it’ll be a long run in that position, but one can always hope for a miracle, right? As usual, I’ve bolded the songs that are good for a running playlist. Get the rest of the list at running playlist

Gobble Gobble… a 5k running playlist for the thanksgiving turkey trot
It’s Thanksgiving in the US tomorrow, and millions of runners are planning to run a 5k turkey trot, so it’s only fair to post a 5k running playlist for a turkey trot today. Since I’m on vacation tomorrow, I decided to combine the playlist of the week post and the event playlist (5k, 10k, etc…) into a single post and have a themed playlist for the upcoming turkey trot. This list is not very fast, but not too bad, at 134 average BPM, and it’s 1:02 hour long (pace to run a 5k will be almost 20 minute/mile, so you can walk to this list if you want to run the full length) , so you’ll have plenty of time to finish up your turkey trot and go home to stuff your face with holiday delights. On a more personal note, I remember running a turkey trot last year in Houston, where it was nice and sunny and I could run in shorts. It’s 43 degrees up in the Philadelphia area today, so I can’t really see myself running anywhere without adequate long clothing for protection… Anyway… Get the running playlist here

Running Playlist: iTunes top 10 BPM analysis: 11-23-2010
This week’s iTunes top 10 list has pretty much the same songs we featured last week on running playlist except for a couple of changes: First, we have an new entry by Bruno Mars, the pretty violent display of affection titled Grenade, and second, a new song from last week’s episode of Glee, Forget You. Forget You actually indicates what could be a start of an interesting trend in music where we see a song from a TV show in the iTunes top 10 list every week. I’m going to track this and see if tonight’s episode leads to the same results. I’m not saying anything about Katy Perry being at number 1…. As usual, I’ve bolded the songs that are good for a running playlist. get the list at running playlist

Directly from Texas – a country running playlist: 11-19-2010
I spent some time in Houston, Texas last week for work and did some running while I was down there. The weather was awesome and I ran in shorts and short sleeves most of the time. I was also inspired by my visit to do a country only running playlist. I used to live in Houston, and always loved country music, and while not all people in Texas are cowboys, ride horses and listen to country music all the time (in fact, Houston is very diverse and has the best international food I’ve ever had), it’s definitely a more popular genre than up north. This list is a bit longer than one hour (1:08 to be exact) and averages out at 139 BPM, so it would give you a good pace for a workout, so just put on your headphones, and lose yourself in the beautiful music of the south while you run (don’t forget to pay attention to your surroundings and all the other things you need to do to stay safe… get the running playlist

10K running playlist of the week: 11-18-2010
Last time, I mentioned a nagging injury that forced me to slow down and so I made a slow 10K running playlist. I realized that just because I’m hurting, I shouldn’t force you all to run slowly, so this week, the 10k running playlist is faster. I started it out at 126 BPM, so make sure you warm up before your run it. This 10k running playlist runs at 148 average BPM and is 1:20 hours long, so if you want to run a 10k with it, you’ll need to keep a pace of at least 13 min/mile if you want to use it. You can of course clip it to match your pace or add songs if you are slower. get the list at running playlist:

It’s Official: The Beatles Now on iTunes
source:http://mashable.com/2010/11/16/the-beatles-itunes-2/
The Beatles have finally landed in iTunes, following years of dispute between Apple and the iconic band’s rights holders and about 24 hours of rampant speculation about what the technology giant would be announcing following cryptic messages posted to the company’s website on Monday.
In case you missed the news, you can finally get Beatles music on iTunes. I might do a running playlist that is entirly made out of Beatles songs at some point, just a thought.
Running Playlist: iTunes top 10 BPM analysis: 11-16-2010
You might have noticed the lack of activity on this running playlist site. This is because I was travelling for work and visited Houston, TX for the week. This week’s iTunes top 10 delivers some pretty good songs for a running playlist. There’s a new Black Eyed Peas single, The Time (Dirty Bit), which like most of their songs, will no doubt be a hit at spinning classes, andTeenage Dream (Glee Cast Version) is also in the top 10 this week (Did you catch the last episode of Glee last week? it was one of the best!). Katy Perry has another one in the top 10, Firework, which will no doubt be there for a while given how much it’s being played on the radio, but I’ve accepted the fact that she is around so I won’t rant about that too much. As usual, I’ve bolded the songs that are good for a running playlist. get the rest of this list at running playlist
More on that later this week, but now, back to business…

Back to the future - an 80s running playlist: 11-06-2010
I know, it’s Saturday today and I’m a day late with the running playlist of the week. Anyway, it was great and I’m back now to share with you the 80′s running playlist of the week! The 80s was a great decade for music. I don’t think there will ever be a market for 90s cover bands or god forbid cover bands for the 2000′s and 2010′s (unless you include the TV show Glee in this and then all bets are off…) but 80s cover bands and 80s music is alive and well in our hearts and ears. This list is 1:02 hours long, so it will give you plenty of time to have fun and reminisce about the good old 80s. click the link to get the running playlist. Please retweet/like this post if you enjoyed it.
The reason I’m late is that yesterday, I went to NYC to attend the Born to Run “Cabaret” event.
There were a ton of great songs I could have added to this list, and I might do a second post of an 80s running playlist some time in the future, but I tried to pick some interesting songs that we all know and love with a good BPM for a running playlist.

Running Playlist: Amazon top 10 BPM analysis: 11-03-2010 – last one
I’m completely dissapointed with Amazon.com today. Their top 10 list hasn’t changed in the past 5 weeks. I’m giving up on amazon and I’m not going to waste your time with a repeat of the same list yet again. If you want to see the songs in the top 10, click here for last week’s post. On a happier note, the VeggieTales Christmas Album occupies most of the slots on the amazon top 20 free songs, so if you’ve always wanted to get this album and never could afford it this is your chance. Running Playlist: iTunes top 10 BPM analysis: 11-02-2010
I guess heaven can’t last forever… Last week on running playlist, I was very excited about seeing 5 Taylor swift songs in the top 10 list on iTunes. I knew this couldn’t last forever and I was right. We’re back to normal this week with some of the songs we’ve seen before in the top 10 list.
There are three new entrants to the list, We R Who We R, Firework, and What’s My Name?, and the first 2 are pretty good for a running playlist.
Personally, I still think Ke$ha is still riding the success of Tick Tok because her new song isn’t that great, but that’s just my opinion.
I’ve bolded the songs that would be a good addition to a running playlist.
