Directly from Texas – a country running playlist: 11-19-2010

I spent some time in Houston, Texas last week for work and did some running while I was down there. The weather was awesome and I ran in shorts and short sleeves most of the time. I was also inspired by my visit to do a country only running playlist. I used to live in Houston, and always loved country music, and while not all people in Texas are cowboys, ride horses and listen to country music all the time (in fact, Houston is very diverse and has the best international food I’ve ever had), it’s definitely a more popular genre than up north.

This list is a bit longer than one hour (1:08 to be exact) and averages out at 139 BPM, so it would give you a good pace for a workout, so just put on your headphones, and lose yourself in the beautiful music of the south while you run (don’t forget to pay attention to your surroundings and all the other things you need to do to stay safe… :)

Back to the future - an 80s running playlist: 11-06-2010

I know, it’s Saturday today and I’m a day late with the running playlist of the week.
The reason I’m late is that yesterday, I went to NYC to attend the Born to Run “Cabaret” event.

Anyway, it was great and I’m back now to share with you the 80′s running playlist of the week!

The 80s was a great decade for music. I don’t think there will ever be a market for 90s cover bands or god forbid cover bands for the 2000′s and 2010′s (unless you include the TV show Glee in this and then all bets are off…) but 80s cover bands and 80s music is alive and well in our hearts and ears.
There were a ton of great songs I could have added to this list, and I might do a second post of an 80s running playlist some time in the future, but I tried to pick some interesting songs that we all know and love with a good BPM for a running playlist.

This list is 1:02 hours long, so it will give you plenty of time to have fun and reminisce about the good old 80s.

Running Playlist: Playlist of the week: 09-10-2010

Running Playlist
It’s Friday again and time for another running playlist of the week.

I was a bit hard on you last week with a very brutal running playlist, so i thought I’d go easy on you and give you a more relaxed playlist this week.

This week’s list doesn’t go higher than 155 BPM and the total average BPM for the whole running playlist is 137, so you’re not going to be pushing it really hard if you run to this list. This running playlist is also slightly shorter than an hour (57:21 minutes to be exact).

So take it easy this week, and come back next week for a new running playlist.

Running Playlist: Playlist of the week: 09-03-2010

Running Playlist

It’s Friday again and it’s time for the running playlist of the week!

I’m going to be working you hard this week with this playlist.

I built this playlist to pretty much keep you running fast for the entire run with songs with a BPM of 120-150 and even a couple really fast ones at the end going up to 170.

I’m a gentle and compassionate person though, so I put in a couple of lower BPM songs in the middle of this running playlist so you can catch your breath.

This playlist is just a bit longer than an hour (1:02:51 to be exact), so it should give you a good workout.
