Caution! Very fast 5k running playlist – 180 BPM and higher 2011-05-26

This running playlist is downright dangerous! All the songs on this running playlist are over 180 BPM!

Before we get to the playlist, I really have to say that the American Idol finale last night was just awesome! I really enjoyed it and the fact that it featured country and rock instead of the usual top 40 pop was a real nice touch.

I did think that Lauren should have won, just because she rocked that last song on Tuesday, but I like Scotty too and I think he’s going to be a HUGE country star, so I’m happy.

Not going to say anything about the really BAD Glee on Tuesday…

Back to running playlists…

If you’ve been chugging along, running slowly and trying to go faster, this playlist is for you. A 180+ running playlist will get your heart pumping and move you faster than you’ve ever run.

Be very careful though – when I ran with this list, I ended up nearly puking because of the effort. I actually felt sick for the rest of the day (most likely a combination of heavy metal music and dehydration…)

5k Running Playlist of the week: constant BPM of 120

This week, we have one of the most basic kind of music for a running playlist. This week’s running playlist is set in a 120 BPM range, it’s the lowest useful BPM for a running playlist, not that it’s bad or anything, but if you run with this list, you’re not going to be pushing your limits.

The 120 BPM range is still a good BPM to run to during recovery runs, or if you just want to just jog in a relaxed pace.

The good thing about this BPM range is that there are a bazillion songs at this range as this is a very popular range for many pop songs.

This list is 51 minutes long, so if you use it for a 5k, you’ll have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the music.

I tried to pick a good variety of songs to keep this list interesting rather than stick to the top 10 list, so I hope you enjoy.

5k Running Playlist of the week: constant BPM of 150

running playlist

As part of my series of running playlists with a BPM in a certain range, the 150 range is probably my favorite BPM to add to a running playlist. It’s not to fast to make you want to hurl when you’re done running, but fast enough to give you a good workout and make you feel that you’re putting effort into your run.

This list includes a good range of genres and songs, but is more rock oriented than most of the lists I’ve published in the past and includes some of my favorite songs to run with, so if you’re anything like me, you’ll have fun with this list.

This running playlist is 37:28 minutes long, so if you want to run a 5k with it, you’ll need to keep a pace of 12:03 min/mile.

5k Running Playlist of the week: constant BPM of 130

running playlist

This week’s running playlist was harder to put together. The 130 BPM range is a very popular range and there are a ton of great songs in that range that could be great in a running playlist.

I had a tough time deciding which ones should make the list, but eventually I had to make some hard choices and ended up with this list.

This running playlist has a very diverse range of genres, ranging from country to hip hop and from rock to latino pop, so I’m sure there’s something for everyone here.

5k Running Playlist of the week: constant BPM of 140

running playlist

This week, I thought I’d try something different on running playlist. I usually mix up my running playlist, so it has a lot of diversity and it allows me to explore different paces while I run. But I got to thinking, what would my running playlist look like if I try to keep the same exact pace for an entire run?

The results are below.

This 5k running playlist is set at a more or less constant BPM in the 140 range (I did make it vary slightly so that I get some diversity in my run). I’m going to experiment with faster and slower BPM running playlists and post my findings over the next few weeks.

This running playlist is 39 minutes long, and if you want to use it as a 5k running playlist, you’ll need to keep a pace of 12:39 min/mile.

Rock 5k running playlist (with some pop too)

running playlist

This week’s 5k running playlist is very rock heavy. I didn’t want to make it too “rocky” so I also threw in some pop songs and some music that is on the border of rock and pop.

This list is 1:06 hours long, and has an average BPM of 135. This is running playlist isn’t too fast and it’s long enough to run a 10k if you really want to use the whole list.

A Diverse 5k Running Playlist For Beginners: 01-06-2011

It’s a new year, and I’m sure many of you have set a goal for this year to run a 5k. Well, the most important thing you’ll need for that (except for training of course) is a good running playlist.

I’ve put together this running playlist with beginners in mind. It has a very diverse mix of songs and the average BPM on it isn’t too high, at 134, so it won’t be too difficult for you to try.

It’s also relatively long for a 5k (57 minutes long), and if you’re really fast, you can actually run 2 5k’s with this single list.

In any case, I hope you enjoy it.

Another Fast 5k Running Playlist: 12-16-2010

Last week’s fast 5k running playlist got some good feedback, so I decided to post another one this week.

I did tweak the average BPM on this, so not to kill you, since last week’s running playlist was a bit fast at 174. This week’s running playlist’s average BPM is down to the 130′s range again and I topped it off at 155.
This list is 30 minutes long, so if you want to run a 5k using it, you’ll have to keep a pace of 9:40 min/mile.

Fast 5k Running Playlist: 12-09-2010

running playlist

Today’s 5k running playlist is a very fast one. It’s cold outside in most of the northern hemisphere, and any run outside needs to be done fast so you can get back inside and warm up.

This 5k running playlist is 31 minutes long, meaning that if you want to use it for a 5k run, you’ll have to keep a pace of 10:03 min/mile. This isn’t terribly fast, but not too slow either, so make sure you warm up well before you run.
The average BPM of this list is 174 beats per minute. This is the fastest playlist I’ve ever posted, please be careful when you run with this.

5K running playlist of the week: 10-21-2010 - split run

This week’s 5K list is a split running playlist. What this means is that for the first half of the run, you’ll be running relatively slowly with slower music at an average bpm of 112 BPM. Once the first half is done, the BPM picks up and your run gets much faster. The music goes from 112 average BPM to 157 average BPM, with a high at 172 BPM.

This list is also very fast. It’s only 35 minutes long and if you want your run to last for the duration of the list, you’ll have to run at a pace of 11:19 min/mile, which is not too slow at all.

You can also break this list apart and use the slow songs for a warm up if you’d like at the beginning of your own running playlist.

Running Playlist: 5K Playlist of the week: 09-16-2010

Today’s 5k running playlist is fast all over.

We start out with a 141 BPM song, so make sure you warm up before you run because you’ll need it.

This 5k playlist is very rock focused, since I want to keep you pumped up and energized the whole way, but I did spice it up with some pop and even one country song.

The overall average BPM of this list is 151 and it’s 50 minutes (50:11 to be precise) long which would take you through it if your pace is 16 min/mile so it’s enough for even the slowest runner.

If you are faster, you might want to cut this running playlist down and remove some songs so you don’t miss out on the fast ending.
