Half Marathon Running Playlist of the Week: 03-24-11

running playlist

I’ve been working on this half marathon running playlist for a while now. It’s really hard to find 3-5 hours worth of good songs that not only work together as a list, but also have good BPM and are fun to listen to, but I think I’ve found a good combination.

This half marathon running playlist is 3:16:25 long and averages at 143 BPM, which is a bit high for me, but I’m sure you fast runners out there would enjoy it.
If you want to use the whole list for a half marathon, you’ll need to keep a pace of at least 15:10 mile per min, which is very adequate for a long run.

An Irish running playlist for St. Patrick’s Day

running playlist St. Patrick's

St. Patrick’s day is coming up soon, and i thought this would be a perfect time to to put together an irish themed running playlist.

Irish music is usually lumped into the “drinking song” category, and true, this music is great as pub music, but it’s hard to ignore the greatness of irish music and the influence it had on genres like country and rock. In fact, if some of the songs in this running playlist woulnd’t have the bagpipe in them, they’d be hard to distinguish from bluegrass music.

In any case, the playlist i put together today has a nice selection of drinking songs, some instrumentals, and just regular music from ireland (no U2…) that has a good BPM for a running playlist.

This list is 27:36 minutes long with an average BPM of 130.

5k Running Playlist of the week: constant BPM of 150

running playlist

As part of my series of running playlists with a BPM in a certain range, the 150 range is probably my favorite BPM to add to a running playlist. It’s not to fast to make you want to hurl when you’re done running, but fast enough to give you a good workout and make you feel that you’re putting effort into your run.

This list includes a good range of genres and songs, but is more rock oriented than most of the lists I’ve published in the past and includes some of my favorite songs to run with, so if you’re anything like me, you’ll have fun with this list.

This running playlist is 37:28 minutes long, so if you want to run a 5k with it, you’ll need to keep a pace of 12:03 min/mile.
